Noc Nenufarów w LubrzyLocal administrative district Lubrza offers many attractions for tourists. Excellent weather conditions and terrain, numerous lakes and forests are conductive to recreation. Moreover, the natural beauty of a landscape creates a large number of forested moraine hills which reach the absolute height of more than 100m. Lakes which are located in this area have a surface of 600ha.

Forests of that district consist mainly of pine and beech trees. What is more, in the neighborhood of the New Village, enthusiasts of nature will find oak forests and full of charm peat-bogs. There are also a number of monumental trees (as many as 12). In the villages occur also many mansion parks.

Among reserves there is worth of attention bats lair in the Miedzyrzecki Fortified Region. Till today, the bats (mammals considered to be very mysterious animals) live in the subterranean area in the number of about 20.000. Constant temperature (8-10 C degrees) and humidity exceeding 100 % in this place are favorable for their living. Therefore, in the northern part of their underworld Nietoperek (the bat’s reserve) was created. Twelve species of these mammals hibernate here. Furthermore, at the end of the 80s albino (one of a few existing in the world, bat with white hair) was discovered. Hibernating bats form aggregations of up sometimes several hundred individuals. Currently, their protection extended to the southern part of the Międzyrzecki Fortified Region - Pętla Boryszyńska. Another interesting reserve is „Pniewski Ług”. Near the Pień Lake, eastward from the New Village extends a peat-bog overgrown with birches and pines. In the Lubrza area there are many natural objects worth of seeing. We recommend our tourists not only attractions associated with sunbathing, but also walking and cycling. Moreover, forests paths with a good surface favor such expeditions. In each village there are bus stops and grocery stores.

Noc Nenufarów w LubrzyNenufarów Trail (foot and bike trail) starts nearby the tank in the square in the center of Lubrza. Moving in direction of Świebodzińska Street, we pass a church, then a bus stop and on the right side football pitch. Next to the forest’s lodge buildings we have to turn right. The road leads to the meadow before the forest, here turn left and we are at the Lubie Lake. The lake has a water of first class purity. Maximum depth is 35m. We walk up a small ravine to the paving road and asphalt. We traveled half of the trail. In front of us there is a historic roll bridge in the New Village. We halt for a moment next to information board to spread our knowledge about how the monuments in Lubrzański Fortification Trial were created. The next section of the road leads to the church in the New Village.

Along the way we pass the monument set for the commemoration of the former inhabitants of the village, World War I victims. From the church the road runs through the centre of the village straight toward Goszcza Lake.

On the opposite side of the lake we see the bridge and the resort, where the annual feast called „Nenufar Night” is organized. We walk down the lake and reach the high slope. Then we get closer to the cottages and pass a resort of Zielonogórski University. The final section of the trail leads over the river channel Rakownik. In front of us we can observe the mill buildings and the nearest canoe haven. We pass the lock fortress. We go next to the municipal office. Noc Nenufarów w LubrzyThe rising of the Pętla Boryszyńska reaches the end of the World War I, when by virtue of the Treaty of Versailles the borders between Germany and Poland were shaped in this way that through The Greater (Wielkopolska) there was a straight road to Berlin. This area is called the Lubuska Gate. The Germans began securing of the Gate by fortifications. In 1933 the construction of the first defensive line called the Niesłysz-Obra Line was built. First fortifications were developed for machine guns, with a garage for antitank. Then huge bunkers called pancerwerki were created. In 1935, the expansion of fortifications visited Adolf Hitler. In the central part of the fortification there was a long underground system with symbolic railway station and railway network. Shortly, after the war Soviet army was interested in these fortifications and then began the removal of equipment from there. When the Russians left the fortress, the stage of plundering began. Everything was taken away from cables, through pipes, stoves and plates. Then the Polish army took control over the bunkers. The army demolishes some and the rest have been secured.
